Michael Benson is the proud Owner and Executive Chef of Heritage 485. After more then a decade in the industry working all over Maryland with very talented chefs, he decided to return home to bring an exceptional level of food and service to Calvert County.

Chef Benson was born and raised in Calvert County. He graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School and earned his Bachelors Degree from Salisbury University. He is third generation food service and while earning his Degrees, he also worked in the kitchen. He worked his way up the kitchen hierarchy in farm to table restaurants in Rehoboth and Berlin Maryland. He moved to Baltimore and quickly rose to Executive Sous Chef under talented chefs Eduardo Castillo and Todd Sellaro. Eventually this led him to become the Executive Chef of a busy cafe style bistro in Midtown Baltimore.

 

Chef Benson decided to return to his roots with his family and start his own restaurant. Settling down in Prince Frederick, he opened Heritage 485. He and his dedicated staff work to maintain unsurpassable standards in food, drink and service. Heritage 485 is the embodiment of his dream of continuing the tradition of excellence in hospitality that his family has strived to achieve for decades in Maryland.
